I was real sure that I wouldn’t like Fall Out Boy after listening to "Sugar We’re Going Down Swinging."  Lucky for me Jen happened to have the CD.  After doing my best drunk-ass rendition of the song in Ocala for the O-crew, I now have the entire CD available for your listening pleasure.

Top song list to be posted soon.

If you don’t like the music I post, I recommend you stop being such a faggot. You’re in the backseat.

Otherwise, listen to "Diamonds On the Inside" by Ben Harper.  If you need the lyrics, check them out on the band’s website.

In the meantime, if anyone has this album, please let me know.  I’d like to make a copy of it and hopefully get arrested by the MPAA or the RIA or maybe even the CIA.

Nickelback’s new single is quite possibly one of my all time favorites, and it’s not even out on CD yet.  I love songs that tell a story and put you right into the setting, painting a picture with colors you might not have ever noticed had you really been there.  Fitting for a song called Photograph.  The CD won’t be released until October 8th which is a little disappointing, but I guess all good things are better with a bit of anticipation.  Listen to Photograph on Nickelback’s website or try this direct link…and don’t forget to read the lyrics.  Powerful.

This song brings back quite a few fond memories.  Probably the most vivid is listening to How You Remind Me sitting in the ‘92 Camaro at Saint Leo, near Alumni and the tennis courts after busting my ass all day at Tingley from 8-5 and then Saddlebrook from 6-11…or riding around with Bill, tearing up the orange groves and laying down some rubber on the back rodes near the lake.  Now I’ve gotta go listen to The State and see what else I can dig up.

Seems a bit odd to me that intangible things…memories, relationships, feelings…are the things that are hardest to say goodbye to.  Something you can’t touch, can’t see, can’t feel…you know it’s there, of course, but where?  What makes them so difficult to walk away from?  At first glance, I’d think that cold, hard things would be the worst to leave…your home, a special birthday gift, that locket your great-grandmother passed down to your mom, who gave it to you on your 12th birthday instead of your 18th because she wouldn’t be around to see you become a teenager…the kinds of things that are irreplaceable.  But aren’t the memories and feelings irreplaceable too?

I’m beginning to think not; quite the opposite, actually, and the main culprit seems to be time.  The further in time I get from a person, a happy memory, nearly anything, the more transparent it becomes.  Sure, it will always be there, but just not as vivid, as clear.  And I’ll put ten bucks on it…look hard enough and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

It’s hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

Just don’t say goodbye to the good ones.

Just heard a new song by 3 Doors Down that’s fuckin awesome. Visit http://www.3doorsdown.com and play “Live For Today” in the music player on the site.

I’m going to have to get the CD steal the MP3’s for this entire album. Hopefully they won’t over-play this one on the radio like every other 3DD song that’s ever been released.

Oh, and this link is thanks to Brooks: Was Up Milk, a spoof on the Bud ad campaign.

This is a good day/Tomorrow’s the same way/All because of you
-Breaking, by Sam Bisbee

Before you read this part of the post, I’d suggest going to check out Sam Bisbee and listening to “Breaking” (at their site, click on Music, then it’s at the bottom on the left…and while you’re there, listen to “You Are Here” as well..or even better yet, watch the videos instead…both are pretty interesting.

Came across a new band called the other day while clicking around. I have to say I just might pick up one or two of their CD’s. The music isn’t groundbreaking or revolutionary, but it’s catchy…and “Breaking” gives me a good vibe - something. I don’t know what the word is, but it’s good. It’s almost like a nostalgic look at the future, if that makes any sense, which it very well may not. Looking back at parts of life, both good and bad, and realize that the future will likely be much more of the same, but not in a mundane sense. For lots of reasons (and some of you can probably guess one or two good reasons, if you know the story), I believe the best experiences in my life are yet to come, though on second thought you’ll probably feel as though I’m discounting the times that you and I have spent around each other–but that’s definitely not the case. Makes me think of 100 Years by Five For Fighting. Thinking about my future in context of the past, knowing that there is time left to live, but that my time will surely come to an end. I guess it’s an optimism of sorts. I’ve never really thought about putting that into words before, so I think it came out pretty scrambled…I’ll have to marinate on that for a bit. Wow that got off topic.

But on to the rest of the music: Colleen L. turned me on to a band called Cross Canadian Ragweed. I guess you could put them into the country-rock genre, but I’m not sure that’s 100% accurate either. You can listen to them here. Track 11 is one of my favorites, and once I listen to the album a couple more times I’ll list a few others.

If you’ve been to my house, I’ve probably already forced you to listen to Lucero, but if not, do yourself a favor and listen to a few songs of their songs here.

On an entirely different musical page, BYOB by System of a Down and Remedy by Seether make me want to break something, know what I mean? Nickelback has a new song out that is pretty good, too, so I’m looking forward to snagging that CD when it comes out.
