I’ve got tons of Gmail invites if anybody wants to sign up for Google’s e-mail service. I’ve used Hotmail longer than most of you have probably been on the Interweb–going back waaaay before Microsoft bought them out–but I switched because it’s that much better. Don’t believe me? Post a comment for this post with your e-mail addy and a request for an invite…I’ll send you a link where you can sign up to give it a try.

As of June 1, the southeastern United States will be eligible to get a free yearly credit report from each of the Big Three: Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. Although these free reports won’t give you a credit score, you can purchase that for an additional fee. If it’s not expensive, I’d highly recommend getting your score, as you’ll have some bargaining power if you get a car loan, mortgage, or any other type of loan.AnnualCreditReport

Before I bore you with random information that you probably don’t care about, we’ll get right to the point: Atlanta pics are up. Even if you don’t check out the whole gallery, make sure you say leave a comment for Elizabeth after viewing her lunch.

This past weekend Shawn, Brooks and myself visited Busch Gardens to ride the new rollercoaster SheiKra. (Don’t ask me why there’s a capital K in the middle of the word, because I’ve got no clue). The wait was a solid hour and a half, but considering that the ride had just opened the previous day, I guess that’s not so bad. The wait was long enough, though, that I felt motivated to skip out of line and go snag an adult beverage, then jump back in line–yes, I’m one of “those” people.

The ride was pretty good, but not quite what I expected. Maybe the trip to Six Flags spoiled me a bit. SheiKra has an initial drop that’s almost 200 ft, and after going on Acrophobia @ Six Flags–which is only 160 ft–I thought the extra 40 might be even better. Alas, twas not. SheiKra will be more fun, though, when the wait is a bit shorter. So no, I won’t be giving away my season pass just yet.

In other news, I’m looking forward to a camping cabin trip this weekend at Myakka River State Park. The group that’s going promises to be a good time; it’s also Normandy’s birthday, so I’m sure things will be off da heazy fo sheazy.

I’ve had a few comments on the website so far, and they’ve been fairly positive. I can’t take all the credit, though, because in reality a couple of trained monkeys dragons could probably do this. But seriously, it’s WordPress and Coppermine that are doing most of the dirty work. If I get some time, I’m going to try designing my own WordPress/Coppermine template, but in the meantime this will suffice.

On a related note, I just don’t have the space/bandwidth to host good quality pics as well as ones that are viewable over a dialup, so if you don’t have broadband, I suggest you stop being a cheapass and get DSL or cable.

Oh yeah…and see that little linky just below this block of text that says “Comments (0)”…well that’s for you to leave a Comment…fancy that. You don’t have to register, and you don’t even have to be who you say you are. Just say something. I appreciate it.

I decided to quit being a slacker and actually get some pics up. The template is still under construction, though, so deal with it. I don’t think it looks too bad as it is, but the navigation isn’t too slick quite yet, and there’s not really a way to navigate back to the blog, etc. I put a link to the Gallery over on the right hand nav…yep, keep going…little more. There it is. If you’re too lazy to look to the side of the screen, then here. But I doubt you’ll want to look at pics if you’re that damn lazy.

Justin and Jessica’s wedding, SLU Alumni Weekend ‘05, and a recent trip to Busch Gardens have all been added.

Next up: ATL. Just you wait, Carter

Well, it looks like Trump is at it again. Apparently, with his upcoming Tampa highrise condo, Trump has gained enough knowledge to call the designer of New York’s Freedom Tower “an egghead.” It’s slipped my mind, but where did Trump get his architecture degree?

So maybe the Freedom Tower is an ugly appendage that shouldn’t smear the New York skyline, but who’s Trump to say so? First he says “it’s just terrible what’s happened in New York,” but then goes on to talk about how it will economically be “a very, very tough deal.” Way to appeal to the senses, Donald.

Wow, ATL was a blast. We left at 5:30 am last Friday in the White Wonder and rolled into town about 11 am. After hitting Underground Atlanta and the Coke Museum, we snagged some wings, a couple 40’s (you gotta love GA for their bottle sizes, but don’t try to buy any alize on Sunday), and had a picnic at Stone Mountain, which happens to be the World’s Largest Exposed Piece of Granite™.

Random Bit of Useless Information: You could fall off the 800 foot structure and actually live…at least there’s the possibilty, according to Brooks.

Anyway, the laser light show was rather impressive, so we headed back to the hotel for a bit of Fun with Forties. Six Flags occupied pretty much all of Saturday (where I got a sweet puke pic of Elizabeth…but don’t tell her I put them on the interweb). We left ATL around 2 pm on Sunday for a leisurely ride back to Ocala and that (unfortunately) concluded the weekend.

I’ll post some pics soon…if you were at the hotel Saturday night and need some of the good pics, I’ll get them on CD for you.

Shawn: looks like you lost the bet, my man!

There are tons of people out there with qualms over the new satellite mapping service that Google provides, but I’m sure these snapshots will really get you going:

  • notice the White House and the two flanking buildings have been Photoshopped to conceal any protective systems on the roof
  • building around the Capitol grounds are obscured but still visible
  • last but not least, 1 Observatory Circle, where Dick Cheney lives, is the epitomy of camouflage

So where do I sign up to have my secret bunker Photochopped?

For all you coke loving monkeys out there who read my away messages but never send me an IM, the gig is up! This shi’ite will now be my away message. Hopefully this will be more entertaining than having 200 people on a list, 50 of which still actually use the damn thing, and 5 of whom I talk to more than once fortnight. If nothing else, I’m sure that I’ll find it interesting. So go ahead…post a response. Even if you pull the cowardly Anonymous posting BS!
